Inspire – High potential and gifted education

Our learning approach

Our school uses explicit teaching. This means we clearly tell students what they are learning, why it is important and how to do it step by step. Explicit teaching helps students understand new ideas by breaking them into smaller parts.

Learning at our school is student-centred, inclusive and practical. We are committed to equity and access. We support all learning styles and needs. Our teachers use proven teaching strategies. They take part in ongoing professional development to stay up to date with best teaching practice.

Our learning approach includes:

Stage 3 NSWEduChat

What is NSWEduChat?
NSWEduChat is a generative artificial intelligence tool owned and designed by the NSW Department of Education. It promotes equitable learning opportunities by providing students with a free, safe, and effective generative AI (GenAI) tool.

NSW public school students in Years 5 to 12 now have access to NSWEduChat student mode. It is designed to be:

Educational Design
NSWEduChat has been designed to respond to students with guidance and by asking open-ended questions that encourage them to explore and share their thoughts and reasoning. This approach sets it apart from other GenAI applications, such as ChatGPT. NSWEduChat supports students in deepening their understanding and thinking critically.

NSWEduChat only uses text, meaning it cannot produce media such as pictures, video, or music. It has also been built with text-to-voice functionality. Students can access this tool at home via https://portal.education.nsw.gov.au.

Before using NSWEduChat, students are required to complete a series of five lessons, guided by their class teacher. Lesson content includes:

We would like to reassure you that NSWEduChat is designed as a supportive tool to enhance your child’s learning experience, not as a replacement for classroom teaching or independent thinking. It will not be used by students as their first point of call, nor is it intended to discourage creativity, problem-solving, or critical thinking. Instead, NSWEduChat serves to consolidate learning and provide opportunities for students to practise and reinforce skills in a safe and guided way.
