Personal development, health and physical education

Personal development, health and physical education (PDHPE) is mandatory from Kindergarten to Year 10.

Sport is an important part of the school curriculum and essential to the development and achievement of many outcomes of PDHPE syllabus. All students are encouraged to participate unless prevented by ill health or injury.

Ocean Shores Public School encourages children to compete in school, district, zone, regional or state organised competitions.

We encourage and expect children to display a high level of sportsmanship at all times.

In term 3 our elective sports progam allows students from K-6 to access sports and activities including:

  • yoga
  • dance
  • fishing
  • golf
  • bowls
  • skateboarding
  • a variety of team sports.

Kindergarten to year 2 students participate in a range of physical activities and sports each week with a focus on fitness, skill development and fun.

Year 3 to 6 students are also involved in a range of PE activities during the week and have organised sport sessions once a week.

Sports houses

For sporting events such as the school athletics and swimming carnivals, children are placed in school sports houses and encouraged to wear a t-shirt in the appropriate house colour.

Our sports houses are:

  • Cedar (purple)
  • Flame (red)
  • Palm (green)
  • Wattle (yellow)
